Where’s the deals? The KEY - Posted by Steve-WA
Posted by Steve-WA on March 06, 2003 at 10:40:25:
Recently, while perusing the local paper, a thought occurred to me: how many of my last year’s deals have I found through an ad or a sign in the window?
Of 17 MHs that I have dealt, guess how many?
Three.
That’s 17%.
One in the weekly ad rag,
one in the daily paper,
and one in my every-two-weekly company paper - this shouldn’t count, because it is not readily accessible to the general public; so you could really call it two, but I throw it in to sandbag a little.
NONE from FSBO signs. And I’ve looked. And I read those ads every single day.
All the rest?
You guess.
What is key in this business? Who gets the dinner gift certificates? The Krispy Kremes? The crisp $100 dollar bills? The “care and feeding”?
This hammers home a VERY important point for all of us, but especially every newbie who wants to know “Why can’t I find any Lonnie Deals in the paper?”
Cuz that ain’t where they are.

Thanks Steve. Great info.
How does this shake out on the selling side. Mostly PM referals, ads, signs in windows, etc.
Thanks again,
Bill Barnes

Just curious, I assume you sold all 17. What statistics do you have for selling. PM referals, ads, signs in windows, etc.

For people who want to sell pretty bad, these sellers don’t try very hard. No ads and no signs is VERY common. And those guys probably wonder why people aren’t beating down the door to buy their MH. Definitely not the brightest bulbs in the universe.
