For a true “Newbie”, where is the best place to start? Aside from all the different books, I see there are programs from Carleton Sheets, Robert G. Allen, Ron LeGrand, etc. All they all the same, or is there one program that is clearly better for a starter?
Why aside from books? Books are the best place and cheapest place to start. I would advise starting with REI for dummies. It will give you a basic knowledge foundation that you can use to begin your education. It will also teach you some of the terms that you will see used in other books and courses. These books basically contain the same info that the courses contain. I actuall wish that I had started with the books and saved myself several hundred dollars. Then, once you have a good basic comprehension of REI I would suggest looking at the courses that teach specific strategies like buying foreclosure, pre-forclosure, lease options, etc… If you educate yourself this way, you will save a lot of money and you will get a better education from several points of view rather than spending a lot of money and getting all of your info from one person. Also, this website is a good place to start. Exactly what you are doing now, asking questions.
