Where can I get vertical alum. siding?? - Posted by Rick (VA)

Hi, Corty.

I assumed you were talking about vertical aluminum siding that matches what’s put on mobile homes at the factory. If the double-wide you saw has that kind of siding, I too would like to know where it came from. On the other hand, it’s not too hard to find vertical aluminum siding that’s in other patterns, but different from the typical MH pattern. The Yellow Pages should yield some sources.

If you do find new, honest-to-gosh aluminum mobile home siding, I would be grateful if you would be willing to let me know where you got it.

Best wishes,
Jerry

I have tried to figure out how to repair a home who’s exterior vertical siding has been smashed in many different places. Is there any answer to this question. I don’t read the forum everyday so I may have missed this one. I have searched the internet with no luck.

Thank You
Rick

V.J’s, @ Rochester, WA (halfway between Seattle and Portland OR). 1-800-600-6903. Best MH parts place I know of, having any & all needed pieces and parts for MHs. They have a great catalog.

For your need they have “alum-a-form” siding in several colors, as well as “cladwood” siding and trim; and alum & vinyl skirting. And they’ll ship.

I"m curious to know why you wouldn’t consider vinyl siding? Considering the cost you could probably do the whole MH in vinyl siding even if you could find the aluminum siding to match yours. In addition a lot of places carry vinyl(Home Depot & Lowes ) because of demand for it versus aluminum.

Have you called the manufacturer of the home? May not yield what you need, but then again, they built it so they can tell you who manufactured the siding for them?

Second choice is, call a local siding contractor - they know what’s available in your area. And certainly you’d want a bid for having the damage repaired professionally before deciding on doing the work yourself or having it done professionally, or selling the home as-is (often the best choice).

I’ve looked for new MH siding and never succeeded in finding it.

However, I’ve determined that there’s an unlimited supply of it on abandoned homes that are scheduled for demolition. You can check with the volunteer fire departments to find out which ones burn mobile homes to dispose of them. Then ask if you can take the siding off first. You can point out that if you don’t, and they burn it with the siding on, the aluminum melts and vaporizes, which is quite a toxic pollutant. You could also check with conventional MH dealers and parks to see if they have/know of any homes that are being disposed of.

Hope that helps,
Jerry

P.S. You will then have to match the color and paint the “new” siding with a good house paint.

lThis is of no help I know, but there has to be somewhere to find it because there is a double wide that is down the road from me that just had new vertical siding put on it and it looks good. It looks like alum to me. I could be wrong.
