for the right price. But not all homes are Mobile Homes. A mobile home has steel I beams supporting the floor joists, is built to HUD code, and is wind and snow-load rated for the area of intended use. I have never seen a real home sitting on 2x2 wood blocks. Just like I’ve never seen a mobile home on them. Some folks will say the darndest things.

This may seem like a dumb question but its been bugging me for a while and I cant seem to find the answer…

What makes a mobile home a mobile home?
(ie/legally allowed to be set up on a MHP pad)

The question came up when I found a 700square foot log cabin (w 300sq foot loft) for sale that had to be moved. The owner said the home is currently sitting on 2x2 wood blocks (just like a mobile home.
Would this home be allowed on a MHP pad?

any advice would be greatly appreciated

thanks
