any damage regardless of cause can be taken from the deposit. The pet deposit is the only part whose is restricted to pet caused damages. In fact, if their deposit does not cover the damages, they will owe you money. The security is not payment in total for their abuse but to encourage them to take care of the property.

… can you tap into the GENERAL security deposit? We charged $250 per pet and they had 2 large dogs. The damage might exceed $500. Can we use a portion of the general security deposit? Thank you!
