Jamae,
Thanks for the phone call last nite! I would have emailed you, but I deleted your email address and they aren’t listed here anymore. I poured the bleach in today, but I have another question for you and your husband.
Today I had all of the faucets running and the water in the 1 tub in the master bathroom was coming out brown. Not a dark brown, but it was dirty. What is that and how can I fix it? All of the other water looked pretty decent.
Also, I noticed that I did NOT smell chlorine throughout the house, do I have to let the bleach sit in there for a while, before I start to smell that chlorine smell??

Ok gang,
I posted before about the well water smelling and was told to try the bleach thing first.
Well, after a week long vacation, I went to pour some bleach in the well and frankly, I wasn’t to sure that it was the right place to poor it. So, can you please help me out here.
The cap that I took off of the supposed spot that is the well says: ABC COMPANY
WELLS and PUMPS
Now when I pulled off the cap (which i had to take off 4 bolts to get it off) there were some kind of lines/wires in there. Is this the place where I want to pour the bleach? The wire things threw me off a little.
Keep in mind I’m a city girl so wells are new to me lol

Hi Carey,
The place where you see wires is probably the area where the Pump is located. If this is the area that you’re talking about, DON’T pour the bleach down there.
The way the system works is: Water that is down in the Well, is pumped up by the Pump (area where all the wires are) and into the house. The Pump is usually located in a small hole topped off with a cap and is buried deep into the ground.
If there is a “rotten egg” smell, you’ll need to use Rust Remover especially made for Well Water. You can purchase this at Home Depot or any grocery store. In my neck of the woods, we usually get it at Jewel or Dominick’s. It usually comes in a green bag.
If you need more help, E-mail me off the board and I’ll get my husband in on this. He’s a whiz at Well Water since we have it at our house. I hope I helped a little.
