How can I patch about 50 holes my yard man put in my skirting? I am using a vinyl tape, but it does not seem to have alot of “stick to it”.

Jim, I don’t have a solution to your problem, but I have a heads for others. I bought roofing shingles (does not matter what color so get the cheapest) and turned them upside down, and slid under my skirting, over lapping the ends and only extending about four inches out from skirting. If you pull a string four inches out from the skirting at each end of the mobile home and use it as a guide this can be done very neatly. this will prevent any grass or weeds from growing, thus preventing the need to get a weed eater close to the skirting. I hope this helps others.
Regards, Phil

You need to prevent this by spraying weed killer around the edge of the skirting so the yard man doesn’t even need to come close to the skirting…

As an ex dirt track stock car racer, I use a body patching method. Go to your local race shop (or buy online from performance bodies ) “racers rivets” they come pre painted and “back up washers”. Cut a patch from scrap skirting and rivet on from the back.

You want skirting withOUT holes?! Wow, I didn’t think they made such a thing. Here all these years buying homes and I’ve never seen one with out holes. I thought they were supposed to be there!

Just kidding, of course.

I don’t have a useful suggestion. Just do what I do and don’t worry about it. They all look that way!

50 holes, Yikes !! I don’t know of anything that patches quickly for the long term. I have caulked a few holes here and there but if you are looking for neat and tidy you may be in for a skirting replacement. Blevins carries a nice “Skirt-Guard” that covers weed wacker damage but it only goes 4" high. http://blevinsinc.com/customer/bleinc/customerpages/pdf/BlevinsA_Skirting.pdf.

If most of your damage is above that I would just bite the bullet and re-skirt.

Jim,
I just had a trailer painted and the painter “hid” the holes with painter’s tape. I didn’t expect very good results but was pleasantly suprised. Of course it isn’t permanent but its been on a couple months and it held well enough for me to sell the place earlier this week. I had never heard of painting the skirting either but its easier to paint it than mask it off. Good Luck.
