Website to advertise your property for rent? - Posted by Jay

Does anyone else use a website to promote their units? What I did (last night) was set up a website. It says it can be up to 10 pages, so I plan on putting up 8 or so pages of pictures of the particular unit that is open at the time, and on the other two, put one where they can fill out the rental application online, and another where they can pay for the credit check online using a credit card (through Paypal). Does anyone else do this? Here’s what my ad will look like:
“Large 2 bed/ 1 bath, w/d hookups, all appliances,
Water/garbage/sewer paid, $500 month + sec. XXX-XXXX
See at: www.roguerental.com”
Seems like it will draw much more attention, and can weed out those that are not interested in the process without wasting my time with showings that result in NOTHING.
Does this sound like a good idea? I’ve never heard it advertised anywhere, but thought it might help some of you. The website I bought looks pretty professional, and took me just a few minutes to set up. Another local landlord and myself are going to share it. The main reason I bought it was that it only cost $20 per year including the web name/hosting/site/email addresses/etc. I’m sure that there are other ones on the net that are just as cheap, but if any of you are interested in one that I know works, go ahead and drop me a line, and I’ll send you the web address where you can buy the domain name and site for the $20.
What do you pro’s think?

I’ve had a website for about 6 months and it works well with the ones that are computer knowledgeable. Some people are still not online.
You have to remember that you have to have text to point them to your website. Ever see Lowe’s, JC Penny’s, Target, advertisments on TV, they always have their website in BIG letters.
I put my website in the thifty nickle, and local paper under houses for sale and rent. I have my ad telling people what I have and then always have my web address for those that are online. I also use my home town cable company to drive them to my site.
Best $uccess,
Dee-Texas

Jay,
I have been using the net for my rentals for several years.
It has worked out well.
check out www.usapts.net/clarkcourt for an example.
I use Yahoo classifieds to drive apartment seekers to the site where the can see both the complex as well as tour the actual units that are available.

Hi Jay,
I think your idea of setting up a web address for your rentals is very good. That was very creative. I wish you the very best. Can you send me the info about the company that provides the service for $20. Have a safe and prosperous new year. Thanks.
Trevor

Jay, could you send the website company info to me also? I’d be interested in the site for $20/yr. Good way to try it out, tho everyone seems to think it’s a great idea already. Thanks, and good luck investing!
