Ummmmm… you can pick them up at lowes, if you get really hard up swing by and I’ll loan you one or you can use a small pair of channel locks or vise grips.

Best wishes,

Hey Everyone!

I am in the process of repairing a leak in the main line into a trailer. In order to shut off the water to the park, I need a metal “u” shaped tool to turn the valve. I am told the only people that have it work for the water company. Does anyone else have any experience or ideas that could help?

Thank you in advance. Happy Investing!

The big box stores sell the kind you describe. I shop Lowes, Home Depote and Menards. Can remember which one I saw it for sale in the other day.

One caveat about using a short water tool, at least in our part of the country, is that black widow spiders (and other critters) love to inhabit water meters.

Hey Richard,
In a pinch a cresent wrench works ok. You can adjust the jaws to fit and put it on vertically, if you need more leverage a big screw driver or such like through the hole in the handle can give you the needed twist

Hey Richard,

In a pinch, if you can reach it you can sometimes get it shut off with a pair of channel locks or cresent wrench.

After that its a good idea to just buy one at lowes and keep it with you. I bought the longest one I could find as some of our cutoffs are quite deep for some reason (not a very deep frost line here so not sure why).
