I was thinking of updating the older homes in my park by covering them with vinyl siding. Has anyone done this and would anyone recommend it. I have 14 homes that need a better appearance and would be doing it myself. What would be an guesstimate of the cost per home and can I attach the vinyl directly to the metal siding?

I did two of them this year. Done professionally its a LOT of money (3k to 4k).

With a 10 dollar an hour guy your looking at about 1000 bucks for materials and labor. They look good if there done right.

flat and not lapped go right over the top of it. If lapped, must be removed or furred out flat (ugh). Last 14X70 i did in june was 1090 for material. Siding, corner, j channel, screws, felt paper. labor was 13 X 34 hours.took the ladies 2 days and added 3k to the value of home. put this over defective hard board and it really dressed it up! Good luck

So if the metal has to be removed would it still be a feasible project or would cost probably be too high. Would you have to put plywood behind the vinyl or would some other kind of board work? I would like to keep cost down to under 2000 per home on material.
