Yesterday I acquired a 1986 14x70 2/1 home in a very nice park. Price of the home = FREE. Home is in excellent shape save the bedroom floor which was damaged by a busted water softner (home was not winterized). My trademark water softner by-pass and a couple hundred bucks for new subfloor/carpet, and I’m in business.
Here’s the catch. Any home sold in this park must be lap sided (if not already) upon resale. I called one local MH service place for an estimate and they said $3500 for this size home.
Now this still works out to be a fantastic deal for me (home should sell for $12k on payments) but I’m wondering if anyone has some hard numbers as to what they’ve paid for having a 14x70 vinyl sided. I have no plans to do the work myself (wife is due with baby TOMORROW), especially since I bought the home so inexpensively. I am quite handy but honestly don’t know anything about vinyl siding or what to expect.

I just sold a home last Monday to a siding installer. I asked him if he did side jobs and what the cost was for a 14X70. He quoted around $3000. He said he could discount the price a little if I was willing to go with a discontinued color or if he could use left over material from one of his jobs. I think your guy is probably in the ballpark. Hi JeffB, If it were me and my helper I would charge you around $ 2,600 which would include the 1/4" fanfold insulation but if they are going to fir it out with 1X4 treated wood and half inch insulation that is a good price. It is still a reasonable price. I hung vinyl siding for 7 years and did several trailers. If anyone tells you that the 1/4 in fanfold insulation isnt any good tell them to bite me, they dont know what they are talking about, I promise you. By the way, be prepaired to be amazed after they are done because it wont look like the same house. It will look brand spanking new. Guaranteed. Be sure to take a picture before they start and a picture after. Nathan.
