Distributions from an LLC are not employment income, so they’re not subject to unemployment tax. General rule of thumb is that unemployment taxes only kick in for income reported on a W-2.

Do you have to pay federal and state (OH) unemployment tax on distributions from a husband and wife LLC? Distributions are rental income reported on Schedule E if that makes any difference.
