I cut them off flush. I am not going to move the homes again so I don’t know if this would be an issue or not.

I don’t re-move homes once they are on my property. I keep them till I demo them.

I bought a L/H with a 2002 DW, however, the tongues were never removed from the MH. The tongues are welded on to the frame and I would like to have them removed.
How can these be removed and what can I expect to pay for their removal?

Thanks

Hmmm…I know people who need this  nt - Posted by blucat

We use a sawz-all and good metal blade to cut off the hitches.

two words-cutting torch. That is the easiest way to remove tongues that are welded on. Do you know a friend with one? or find a local welder that has a portable setup who can come out there and burn them off. Just get them to cut straight down even with the end of the home. You can save the removed pieces and have them reattached if you ever need to move the home. Most people store them under the home.

Price? that depends, if your buddy or coworker is able to do it that might only charge you a 6 pack, a welding service will charge more.

do you cut them off flush with the house, or cut the welds through?

I would like to have a dollar for every time I have heard about some idiot with a cutting torch, burning down a mobile while attempting to cut off a tongue.

Not everyone who owns a set of torches, or has access to them, knows how to safely use them.

I think the number of minutes it takes a single wide to burn is under 10. Less than twice that for a double.

Follow Tony’s advise, & use a sawzall, it’s safer, cleaner, and cheaper.
