Look at it this way: she can always get another one. Men are plentiful, and women can afford to be choosy. Maybe she could get a more recent model with some built in common sense.

Hopefully you all will receive this message with the levity it was intended. I am on my way out of town so I won’t be able to respond.

I had an extra phone line installed this morning and the phone guy pointed out to me that our “power wasn’t attached to the house”. In other words, where it comes in from the utility pole, it’s supposed to be anchored into the house. There’s this big old 4 inch bolt just hanging off the line and a hole in the fascia boards where it USED to be.

I’d always been told that where the electric enters the house, it’s my problem. But anything between the house and street, it’s the electric company’s problem.

So when I called the electric company, we’ll call it FPL for short, they tell me the attaching-of-the-bolt-thing is definitely MY problem, and I have to have an electrican re-attach it for me, after he calls and schedules a power-off period. But gee, if sometime over the weekend, we have a huge windstorm and that thing snaps, it will surely be FPL’s problem. Grrr.

The funny part is that I have one of those spouses who LIKES to get his hands dirty and experiment with projects he has little previous experience in. Like the time he used a 3 inch drywall screw to hang a picture. You know the type, ladies?

Frankly, I am almost afraid to go on my trip. (You should see the note I left for him.) I am going to have to trust his judgement on this one, and assume he’ll leave that braided wire with about a bazillion volts going through it, to the professionals.

Wish me luck! LOL

p.s. Hey Hal, it’s hurrcane season, yaknow.

If I was him I would not touch that. If you are not experienced with electricity you should NOT do this MAJOR repair work. If you are talking about Florida Power and Light for FPL then I may be able to help you. I know a few people that work for FPL. I would love to help you. Email me and let me know.
Cordially,

Sandy -

Been there with my husband. He’s good at a lot of fix-ups but THINKS he’s good at them all. Hope you don’t come back from your trip to find a Kentucky Fried Hubby. LOL

Have a safe trip!
