Hi all,
I’ve been researching emotional support animals for a while now, especially because I’ve been dealing with anxiety and occasional burnout. I keep seeing mixed opinions online about ESA letters, so I wanted to hear real experiences from this community.
Some people say it’s life-changing, especially when it comes to housing and emotional stability, while others say it’s overhyped or confusing to get a legitimate one.
If you’ve gone through the process:
I’d really appreciate honest feedback before I take the next step.

I was in the same boat - lots of anxiety and unsure if an ESA letter was actually worth it.
I ended up going through My ESA Therapist, and the process was pretty straightforward. For me, it didn’t “fix” my anxiety, but it did make a real difference with housing and gave me peace of mind knowing my situation was officially recognized.
Honestly, the biggest benefit is still my pet being there during stressful moments—the letter just makes it easier to keep that support without issues. So yeah, worth it for me, but more as a practical tool than a cure.
I felt the same way before getting an ESA letter because there is so much confusing information online. I did some research and chose RealESALetter since they have licensed mental health professionals who do a real evaluation.
The process was easier than I expected, and having a legitimate ESA letter made my housing situation much less stressful. My advice is to avoid any service that promises an instant letter without a proper evaluation.
