I have an issue with some tenants I’m hoping I can get some advice on. I just took over as owner of a small apartment building 2 months ago. When I took over, one unit was occupied by a boyfriend and girlfriend - with both names signed on the lease from the previous owner. I got a call earlier this week from the boyfriend that they have broken up and he has kicked her out and doesn’t want her back. She moved out but apparently came back a few days later to get her stuff and also did some damage to the place - nothing too major and mostly to his things. However, he wants to make sure she can’t come back, but is worried since there is a lease with both of them on it that she will claim she has as much right to be there as him. Any input on this one?

Stay out of it. Next week they will probably be back together.Do not take her off the lease with only one to pay the rent you may need to do an eviction and she may be the only one you can collect on
