I don’t see where they filed a lawsuit. Code enforcement may not do much as they cannot require things like building code upgrades. Most of what they might cite you for are things a tenant might do, like park on the lawn and so on, so the call may backfire on them. I suggest you wait for the results before taking any action.
I rented one of my properties to a tenant on a lease option. Property is older and does not meet the current building codes. Lease option says the house is about to be transferred in as is condition. My tenant called the code enforcement and complained about the house. Now what should i do? Can I evict this tenant? Or cancel the lease?
This was not a normal lease agreement. they were aware of the house’s condition and that is why they got a good deal?
i am really mad that they called on me.
