When i read this I was shocked. I hope you inherited the multi because you should know this one already if you are a LL.

Look for a bureau that can give you credit, eviction, conviction and arrest in one shot. I get mine for under $25.00. I use a place in Feeding Hills, MA and I CALL them each time I need one. I don’t know where you are but I bet if you called the place I used they could refer you. I use the InfoCenter. They are listed.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Tenant Credit Checks - Posted by Jaye

Hi Everyone,

I’m a newbie landlord and wanted to know the best way of checking the references of prospective tenants.

I found a website called http://www.youcheckcredit.com/, where they will provide you with a credit check, and recomendation as to whether this potential tenant would be a good risk - for about $10.00 per request.

Has anyone heard of, or has used this service?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Jaye

I’ve not heard of this site before, but did take a little time to look it over. It looks ok, except for requesting your bank info. I use ulofa.com and have been very happy with their service, quick & easy & charged on a credit card, rather than right out of my bank account. $6.88 individual & $9.95 for joint reports, plus an initial, one-time fee of $19.95. I think you’re being very wise to use credit checks, they’ve saved me a lot of money & headaches in the past few years!
Best of luck with landlording!
