Hi all,

I am interested in using roadside signs but am having difficulty finding a vendor of these type signs. If someone knows such a vendor, a referal would be much appreciated.

Thank You!

Al

I use banditsigns.com. If you order 100 signs or more, it’s very cheap. The comment below by Jack is a joke… there are “anti-sign” people who go around cutting your signs in half.

Understand that in most areas, there are local ordinances that prohibit the use of these signs, so use them at your own risk. I only use them for selling houses, and I use them sparingly.

It’s not a felony to put up a vinyl sign on a street corner, but if you overdo it you are likely to get a fine. I know a few people who have been fined, but they think it’s well worth paying a $200 fine to put up 500 signs. They will argue that it is a victimless crime, although other people argue that society is the victim because the signs make street corners ugly. Ironically, some of these same people cut the signs in half, in an attempt to dissuade the sign owners. In doing so, they are littering the street corners with half-cut signs (heck, I wish they’d just take the WHOLE DAM THING!).

Many large corporations pay fines on a regular basis because it is cheaper than complying with the law. In some cases, this is problematic, because people are being injured (as in the case of faulty children’s toys or automobiles). In other cases, it’s simply a technical violation like having a building sign too bright (as in the case of QWEST communications). In one neighborhood, a store front is painted with ugly orange lettering. In another, local code prohibits such activity. In some high-end neighborhoods, you cannot even put a REALTOR sign in front because it looks “unsightly.” And, if you want to talk about ugly, let’s discuss the bright yellow “WE BUY UGLY HOUSES” billboards.

I would equate using vinyl signs with leaving a dead tree in your yard. It’s ugly, but most people won’t notice it. If enough people do notice it, the city could make you remove it, or will fine you if you don’t.

So, it’s up to you to decide whether you think putting up signs is worth the potential fine and whether or not you are being a “bandit” for using them!

Al, I use signs, but I also get many calls from the local zone enforcement officers who give me summons to court for these signs. So if your going to use signs , expect to get your b*lls broken and you will pay some fines. But, all in all I have found that the signs give me the most marketing for my buck.
Good Luck,

I used to take the whole sign, but I have come to the conclusion that cutting the side in half and only taking half the sign is a much greater deterent. : )Additionally, by leaving half of a sign it allows local code enforecement the oppourtuity to quantify the magnitude of the problem, and issue fines.

ps: I am not the one doing the littering.

Jack, I truly don’t understand your obsession with defacing signs but I guess everyone needs a cause.

Maybe there is a movie plot here for a “fatbaldslob” (your bogus e-mail) to really make a name for himself. I’ll wait to see the posted bandit signs to promote it.

Jack,
You obviously just have a hard on about signs and your mind just will not process to how you’re actually perpetuating the very thing you hold so contemptuous.

JMHO.

You are not deterring anyone by cutting signs. Signs are cheaper in bulk, so investors just keep putting up more. All you are doing is making things worse by having new signs nailed every week next to the damaged signs.

sleazeballsigns.com…kinda has a nice sound to it. Wonder if Jack has that URL taken. sleazeballsigns.com/fatbaldslob Yea, I think it should have it…LOL.
Anybody had any problems with the county? Seems every post I’ve read mentions city code. I typically post outside of the city limits, and have never had a problem. Well, maybe a problem with the sleeze bag sign cutters and/or stealers stealing my signs. I thought about putting some posion ivy juice on my signs. Person grabs my sign, jumps back in their car, picks his/her nose, scratches, and maybe they decide tearing down signs is a hobby that would be better suited for someone else. Too bad I haven’t figured out a way to put these kinds of signs up safely.

I take and disfigure illegal ‘i buy houses’ Sleaze Ball Signs because they reflect negatively upon law abiding investors such as myself. (That, and I just enjoy taking them :). I think you have me confused will some green peace protester.

I have seen less than a dozen "i buy houses’ signs in the past month (as opposed to ten times that six months ago). It could be just a fluke, or the weather, or the economy, but I think that the reduction in signage is a clear indication that I am a deterent, time will tell. I must not be as smart as you are, I can’t immediatelly come to a groundless conclusion that taking the signs will not deter anyone, I have learn the hard way.
