Bryan,
As Brent indicated, the amount of money investors spend depends on too many factors that might not make them apply to you.
What are you looking for here?
A possible budget to work out for marketing?
Check ad prices.
In some areas, classified ads in the daily paper are not bad, and in others, they cost an arm and a leg.
I remember running a 4 line, 7 day ad, for under $40 in my old area.
Here, the price is well more than that.
Since ads don’t pull too well, I feel that money is better spent elsewhere, so I don’t use them any longer.
Signs, this would depend on several factors as well.
In your area, how long will they last?
Where will you get them? We all pay different prices, and those of us who’ve been in business a while, often have deals worked out with suppliers.
I can tell you this, monetary wise, my marketing budget is the single biggest investment in my business.
I spend money to get the message out there, and make profit in return.
It really depends on your local area’s tolerance level for certain types of marketing, and your ability to be persistent and keep the message out there, daily.
I’ve seen some investors make a good living, spending only a couple hundred bucks per month marketing.
Others I know spend well over $10k/month on marketing.
I prefer middle of the road, and buy long term advertising, paid once a year, and then a few misc monthly expenses.
Over all, I’d say I average between $1k-$2k per month in marketing, with a few months WAY above that.
Like when we use billboards, or television ads.
They cost more.
Figure out what works in your area.
Use a few methods, cost effective methods, and track the results.
when something works, do more of it, and something that does not, lose it, trying something else.
Never rely on ONE method, keep your message out there in several forms, all over the place.
The longer people see your message prominently displayed around the area, the more people will respond.
Market beyond your comfort zone and the calls will come.
Good luck,
Jim FL
