I am thinking about getting an RE liscense in the near future. I was wondering what some of you may think the pros and cons of it would be? Would I even have to split commissions on the properties that I sell that I also own?

Depending on which state you are in, the rules may vary. If you are a licensed agent, there are certain restrictions and ethics you must abide by. Not saying that you would do anything unethical, but your local real estate commission can discipline you for certain questionable acts through fines or revocation of your license. If you are going to list your properties through your local Multiple Listing Service(MLS), you will have to offer some type of commission split if you expect other agents to show your properties. You always have the option of selling them through other means. However, in NC, if you advertise your properties, you must disclose in the ad that you are a broker/agent. Hope this helps!
