A seller that I bought a house from via a short sale just got a 1099 from his bank. I understand that if he was insolvent at the time of the sale then he wouldn’t have to worry about the tax consequence. I understand that there is a form that you have to ask your cpa to fill out in order for the IRS to forgive the debt. Can someone provide me the link to this actual form?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
