no appraiser necessary. you can decide the value within reason. If the appliance costs $500 new and is nearly new the value should be something a little lower than $500. If its 10 years old, its probably worth next to nothing.

I’ve read that not only can I get depreciation for the house but also the carpet, ceiling fans,dishwasher,a/c unit etc etc. Do I need to get a seperate appraiser in or can I just estimate these. Need advice if anyone has claimed depreciation on these items before. Thanks.

They have a deal with Ebay to get the values of virtually everything in a home from recent sales online. Nothing says you can’t inflate the prices a little bit.
