Do you have a significant taxable gain resulting from this sale? If so, you may want to defer your sale until next year, otherwise, the profits will be taxable this year.
Are you subject to AMT this year? If so, it may to your advantage to keep the sale in this tax year.

I am about to close on a lot and the buyers want to close on December 29th 2004.
I was wondering if it would be better to wait till 2005 to close in case any new laws were coming into effect that might be of an advantage to me.
