There is a book floating around detailing a method of selling your house in 5 days using a bidding process.
Basically you advertise your house at a ridiculously low price and then have a bidding process to sell the place. The author says you can usually get at least as much, and usually more for your house using his method.
I need to know if anyone has used this method and their comments about the process.
Also, is it legal to sell like this in California??

I have not read that book, but as a Realtor in a hot market we do it all the time. Here is a recent example: 3 Family House in a prime location, put the property in MLS @ 649K with no showings until the 1st open house (5 days later), offers to be presented 2 days after open house. We had 50 or 60 parties at the open house. On Tuesday we presented 22 offers. The seller ended up taking a cash offer at 750K 30 day close. Worked very well on that occaision. I’ve also seen it backfire too. Some buyers get scared away by a multiple bid situation. Their is nothing illegal about this.
