Most of the time there is a county housing agency
handling these issues. Tenants apply for eligibility
and the agency pre sreen landlords and evaluate
the properties.

Are there agencies/companies that will seek out potential section 8 tenants and place them in your rental housing for a fee? I recently spoke with a real estate agent that mentioned such a service.

I have a rental in Kansas City, KS that I had for rent about a year ago. I wasn’t getting as many calls as I had hoped for with the sign in the yard and ads in the papers. As soon as I listed it with the section 8 office (only took a phone call), the phone started ringing off the hook. Somebody moved in within 3 weeks, and I have a guaranteed monthly check from the county govt.

I’ve heard some horror stories about section 8, but once we got past the inspections, it has worked out great so far (knock on wood).

Good Luck!

Yes there are. Many of them are free. In CT one is called the Rushford Foundation. Check with town hall regarding such organizations. They counsil section 8 tenants helping them in many areas such as finding housing.
