Can you not request one from the county or state vital records office? if not you, then the trustee of the estate?

How do you obtain a death certificate, for the purpose of removing the deceased’s name from a deed, when the co-owner is not married or related the deceased?

While you or anybody can buy a copy of the Death Cert from the local county or city health dept, I’ll say right now you probably are not going to be able to “remove” anybody’s name from a deed.
This question seems to be recurring despite the many lawyers’ replies on this forum that a name on a deed cannot just be removed at anybody else’s whim.
To obtain title of a deceased’s property one must either probate the last will of the deceased, if there was one and you’re in possession of it…or obtain the title from that person’s heirs if any.
It’s not a simple matter for a layman to untangle, so I’d recommend anybody going through this to consult with his lawyer so as to understand the steps (and costs)involved in taking title in a death situation.
