Rehab risk insurance - Posted by keith hutson

Just paid $450 for one through Farmer’s. 100K house, vacant, no repairs, quarterly paid with no prorating for that time. Pretty lame coverage too. I think the house needs to sink into the ground or catch fire for anything to be covered.

Can anyone recommend a good insurance company regarding builder/rehab properties?

Thanks a lot

Since I am not a licensed contractor I’ve been told that I cannot get builders risk insurance. I usually get a vacant building policy underwritten by LLoyd’s and it winds up costing me around $650 for 4 months of coverage. That’s on a 100k property.

Hope This Helps,

Zurich Builders Risk Plan is one of the few around. This makes it extremely difficult to shop for any insurance, since there are only 2 or 3 players…

Just got a notice that my rate is changing in February… but they didn’t say to what… Do you think that it could be going down…? Didn’t think so.

is that a “vacant” home under renovation is probably occupied for more hours per day than an “occupied” home.
