Maybe the sibling that is refusing to sign feels like the one living in the home is taking advantage of the other sibling’s rights. Why not suggest that the sibling that lives in the home pay the other siblings a fair amount of rent per month?

There are 3 siblings that were all deeded one piece of property in Minnesota. One of the siblings lives in the house. The house had fire damage due to electrical problems. One of the siblings refuses to sign the insurance claim check because they do not want the one sibling living there anymore. We cannot come to an agreement so the house cannot be restored. The insurance company has stated that until we all can agree they cannot do anything more. I understand that. My question is what can the 2 siblings that agree do about the one that will not agree? How can we get this resolved so the house can be rebuilt?

Would the one sibling that doesn’t want to cooperate be amenable to having the other two siblings buy out his/her share of the house, so that he/she doesn’t have to be involved anymore?

Also, which sibling are you??
#1: living in house
#2: not living in house, but OK with #1 living there
#3: not living in house, and not OK with #1 living there

Just curious.
