I owned a house in Hannibal, MO which recently went to tax sale. It did not sell, so ownership went to the county trustee. I thought if I could come up with the money within a certain period of time that I could pay the taxes and leins and get the house back. I did that, but when I went to the courthouse to pay they said the trustee had sold it a few days after she got it. Is this legal? They told me if it had sold at the tax sale, I would have redemption rights, but since it didn’t sell, I do not.
