I assume you are the buyer? This should be a fee to the seller. Typically, you will only be charged a pro-ration for the period you will have ownership unless your agreement says otherwise.

Closing on a commercial property tomorrow. We are selling. There are r/e tax 2 entries in closing. We don’t have a problem with the customary 7/1/06 to 1/3/07, but what about that seperate amount for 1st half 2006? We just closed on a residential a month ago and no entry was made for this. Property taxes are due mid-February. Is this something that is on here because we are in a new year - or is this a mistake? Thanks in advance.
