My 2 cents. Im in Vancouver, S. Wa, and here in Clark county, the county is contacting EVERY QCD that comes in their office without exception and hammering them for the 1.78% excise tax. They even told me “we are tired of you people (investors) getting something for nothing”. Just thought I’d chime in.
my parents are going to quit claim some property 2 me and i need 2 know if it will be subjected 2 excise tax in washington state? any info would be appreciated

Andy I’ve talked several WA tax assessors out of this over the years whenever I was recording a QCD, where I was doing it just to clarify ownership, or record an existent ownership interest that had theretofore been unrecorded.
You’ll just have to educate them that no Ex.Tax is due because no real consideration has been passed to seller, if that’s the case.
But if you have paid something for it, then in my opinion an Excise Tax Affidavit would have to reflect a true value on property being deeded.
