I wouldn’t worry about it. You will, however, have these extra parts lying around. These type units are pretty much a complete kit. When you replace, it’s just unit replacement. Chances are good you’ll never use the left over parts. I’d just leave the parts there for the new owners and if they want to install these parts themselves, let them. Otherwise you’ll windup with a garage full of misc. parts that don’t fit anything.

rehabbing my first house. garage door opener broken. I replaced the motor ONLY and left the t-bar and chain in place. Is that ok, or can I get into any trouble down the road for not replacing the ENTIRE unit?
