I agree with your assesment on Jamaica. And, I can clump most all of the Carribean islands in that assesment as well. Just look at the direction those now independant countries are going (and where the people are heading) since the founding countries left. Compare that with the still dependant islands of Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, Caymen and to further my point, Bermuda. Independance is not always all that it is cracked up to be. To add, all those countries didn’t have to fight for it either like we did. Could you imagine what Puerto Rico would look like if they got their wish of independance? Or Hawaii for that matter? Every year that issue comes up believe it or not! In conclusion, not a good investment down there unless there is a way to “sell short” some property like stocks.

You may want to make a trial run before you decide to spend any length of time there. Having been there many times, I am speaking from experience created not by destination choice.

Of all the places that I have visited in this world and that is quite a few, in that I cannot think of more than I can count on my fingers, Jamaica is probably one of the last that I would consider to make an investment. Any comments on the advisability of Jamaica?
