propane heating - Posted by rayinpa

I am purchasing a property that has a propane heating system. how do you go about having the tenants pay for the heating gas when there is most likely fuel left in the tanks before and after they move in? do you put a meter on the tanks and charge them accordingly? I got a free downloadform for an oil adjustmemt statement from LPA but it is easier to measure oil that gas. any help greatly appreciated. thanks Ray

Ray,
Have the propane company fill up the tank (I think they will only fill to 90% capacity) before the new tenant moves in. The tenants are then responsible to either have it filled before they move out, or you have it filled and deduct that from their security deposit.
good luck,
Anne
