JT,
just heard about this new way of cloning, so I thought we dig up the grave and get some DNA and see what we can do ;-).
It’s a little too involved. I’ll let you know off board.

probate in California - Posted by michaela-CA

Well, now that I’m in California things seem to be a little/lot different in some aspects. I’ve done my share of probate properties in Georgia, but just came across my first potential here. Looks like it could be a mess - too many heirs etc.
Owner died in 1979. Her husband moved somewher ein the northeast and died sometime before now.
8 children, of which 3 of them are dead and they had grand children. Some of the children were below 18, when the mother died.
About to get tax foreclosed.
Had to do a lot of skiptracing in the past couple of months on this (last name is jones ) to find osme relatives. Finally spoke to a niece today, who told me that the kids don’t want to do anything about the property. She is going to call me back tonight with one of the owner’s children’s ph#.
Yes, I know, whatever advice you give me is not legal advice - no problem. Just would like some feedback, before I bring a probate atty into this. So, I know whether it’s even worth it to deal with this.
It looks, looking at some probate stuff here, as if the probate court is requiring an appraisal? Is that correct? IF so, then I don’t want to deal with it, as I don’t want to buy at full market value. But, if that’s not necessary, then it’s a go, as I love those properties where the sellers don’t much care, but where I have no problems finding buyers. Tac value is 9K, but I could sell for 100K.
Is there a shortcut, if all of the heirs are in agreement or does it have to go through full-blown probate, which can take a year or longer?
I’d appreciate any feedback from those of you in the know
