  1. The real Estate ad was a misprint.
  2. The story you are repeating was most likely a myth.
  3. Contracts related to Real Estate are required to be in writing.

Hello,

I located a home that was listed at $5,000. The real estate agent neglected to add three additional zeros. Do they have to sell the property at the listed price?
Thanks
Kathy

It’s an offer to sell…an advertisement, not a contract.

no.

A newspaper did something similar to a classfied ad I ran. When people called me about the really cheap house, I would tell them that I just sold the house an hour ago.

I recall a radio advertisment for a car dealership that said for a song, we’ll give you a car. A man went to the dealership an sang a song. After all the legal haggling the dealership had to give this man a car. Thats what the ad said, although it was a mistake. So what makes the real estate ad any different?
