I used Yahoo classifieds for a rental recently, but never received this level of response. I also used the paper, response was good, and I rented to some people responding from that, so I assume my offering was ok. I probably got about 20 respondents per week from Yahoo, but none of them were serious, all just browsing. Which online service did you use?

Just curious if the response i got from running a rental ad are typical or not.
ran ad for 20 days averaged 65 searches per day and 11.7 percent responded or 7.6 per day. the majority of the responses were on the week days with thursdays being the heaviest hit day.
I tried using the net a few years back but never got this level of response. We have stopped using the local paper due to outrageous costs and the large majority of respondants that could not meet our minimum criteria. It been a tough 20 days with 151 prospects but we did lease the unit tonight to the first respondant. I found that it was easier to prescreen prospects via email as many eliminated themselves when presented with the credit, tenant history and minimum income requirements.
Most likely i will try this again as i have two units just about ready to go back on the market. I’m curious though as to anyone else’s successes or failures with this method.
