The Columbus REIA meetings have been rescheduled to the first Monday of every month, instead of the first Tuesday. There is also a new location at The Makoy Center in Hilliard, check the website (www.reiacolumbus.org) for details. I think the meetings cost $10 for first time visitors, but I’m not sure, again check the website. You should sit in on Ed Wachsman’s question and answer session, Ed has some articles published here on CREOnline, he’s a great guy and helpful to new investors. Todd Smith’s Buy, Sell, and Trade sessions would be another good workshop for you to attend to see what type of deals people are doing.

I’m fairly new to investing myself, but I’d be willing to share any information that I have that you think might be helpful, email me offline.

Best of luck.

Hello. I was just wondering who on this site is an investor from ohio? Is anyone from the columbus area? Is anyone involved in the Columbus REIA club? Does anyone know if it costs any money to go to these meetings? I’ve read several books and I’ve been reading every bit of information on this site. I’m 20 years old and I’m majoring in engineeing at Ohio State. For the next few months I have a co-op with Honda, so I will have a little more time to devote to getting involved in real estate. My goal is to buy at least 2 properties within the next year. I basically would just like to know if anyone in ohio would like to give me a hand or guide me along in the first few steps. I’m not asking someone to include me in on the financial benefits of their investments, just for me to watch and learn. If anyone anyone is going to the Columbus REIA meeting next tuesday, let me know, because I will definitely be there. I’d like to talk to as many experienced investors as I can. It would be very benefical to just see how someone goes about the whole process from looking for properties, buying them, and owning and maintaining them. My cousin and his friend are also interested in investing along with me, so we might eventually try to form some type of partnership or corporation down the road. They are both in accounting so that could definitely help us reach our goal. Again, if anyone is involved in the Columbus REIA club, please let me know what I have to do to get involved or anything about it. Thanks a lot everyone. Good luck with your investments.

I am also a fellow new investor from the Columbus area (I live in Hilliard). I have not made it to a Columbus REIA meeting yet, but since they moved it to Hilliard I may have to go to one.

Have you thought of what type of investing you want to get into (flipping, L/O, rehab, etc…) I currently have one property that I am lease optioning, and am working on an REO property to rehab right now.

Charles.

P.S. Go Bucks!!!

Dear Adam:
I was a member of the Cincinnati clib and it is a GREAT club. The Columbus club is a member of the Ohio REIA. It is a non-profit club, unlike other clubs I’ve belonged to. The difference is that there isn’t someone trying to sell tapes every month. Definately check your local REIA out!
