I don’t know, BigV. I’ve just always loved roller coasters. If you’re anxious, I would think your heart rate would go up faster. My brother was with me and he took his 9 year old on the kiddie roller coaster instead, but I saw even younger kids riding the adult coasters. Why don’t you just start with the kiddie ones and see how it goes.

Here is the question. I’m in my early 30’s, but I tend to worry about my health, tend to be overly cautious about my health in general, and heart in particular.

When I was in my 20’s, I used to ride Six Flags Great America rides with no problems. I’m thinking of going there again this year.

The problem is that when I was in my 20’s, I did not hear about people, as young as 12 years old, dying from heart attacks during some of the rides. Now, that I do know about these things, how do I test myself and my 8 year old son to minimize the possibility of one of us dying at or after the BatMan or SuperMan ride? Oh, why not test the wife’s health as well? LOL.

I realize this is not the right forum for this question, but can any of you stear me to the the more appropriate forum for this question?

I know that the risk of dying is relatively small, but how can I test myself before hand? Will running very fast for 10-15 mins be equivalent (as far as heart is concerned) to the ride?

I just tested my health by riding all of the major roller coasters at Busch Gardens Tampa. I’m 41 and still alive. I would worry more about back and neck injuries.

But the problem is… once you feel dizzy on the first bump, you can’t get out. Would you say that your heart beat was equivalent to running fast? What could compare to your experience?

I also have an 8 year old son, whom I worry most about.
