Thanks Clint,

That is where some of the problem lies. Our laws are weak and our lawmakers are slow to adopt a system for fairness. However, the train of determination is still moving. Several of us have united together to take on this issue in the news and city hall. There are laws in place to address these extract issues, but there is little backbone behind them. We have discovered a prevalent problem that may be the clutch to this neglect issue" the violators are cited and arranged in criminal court" those courts are already overwhelmed with more violence cases", we are working to make this a civil issue which will give more teeth and could result in damages that are attainable by garnishments and liens on the owners home. This is a national problem and I think more people involve can curve this trend.

We are faced with properties being neglected my non-occupied property owners. They have rented or left their property unattended and those houses are falling down and some of their tenants are bring drugs and other undesirable activities into our community. We have attempted to contact several of the owners?only few have returned our calls - and those few have stated that as long as they are receiving their rent, they do not see a problem - in addition the owners? communicated to us that the problem is a neighbor against neighbor even though these owners brought these people to our community and also refuse to maintain his or her property.

What legal actions can we take or what laws are there for neighborhoods to contend with these landlords/property owners and tenants?

PLEASE HELP

Contact the city zoning office, contact the police (non emergency) It is up to the City to enforce the laws, not you. File a complaint every day until it is taken care of! Contact your local new room (tv) about the blight, right letters to the mayor, the editor of the local paper, etc. etc.

Good Luck,

Clint
