I took the three day seminar with National Real Estate Investors in Los Angeles. I found it acceptable (I am new and I have no other seminars to compare). Now they are trying to sell me the M-5 home study course with the coaching program and leads at $8,000. I wonder if anyone has taken this program. Please share with me your experience with the program or National Real Estate Investors so that I can make an educated decision. Thanks.

Sarina,
As someone that is both a successful real estate investor and a teacher I would like to give you several tips before you invest your hard earned dollars toward education in real estate investing. First, you need to know that unlike alot of the teachers out there I still attend many seminars both good and bad and even though I am an expert, and the best in the country at Quick Turning Houses I will never know everything. This is why I continue my education. #1 Tip which set off my BS Radar about this company is there is no history on them. Always check for a history good or bad. #2 Tip is always make sure there is “A” Person that developed a system the company teaches. #3 Tip is make sure the guru is a “For Real” investor. Ask for a company name they use in their city ie. Monterey Investments in Cleveland is mine. #4 Ask for proof the guru has done deals. Do so during these free seminars. If the response is one of shock walk out. #5 Ask to see actual testimonials that include full name, city and state and proof students did deals. As a former police officer I detest those that rip people off.
Thanks,
Chuck Smith

I did as you suggested and went to your county recorder http://recorder.cuyahoga.oh.us/
but nothing came back for Monterey Investments and only 3 properties for Chuck Smith.

Should I walk?

In defense of Chuck and other RE investors out there, most of them – as Chuck mentioned – will probably not keep the properties in their own name, but will use a land trust. Or, in the case of lease-options, the investor may control hundreds of properties, NONE of which will “appear” in their own name. So just that fact alone will not be enough evidence to convict someone!

“Keep it positive…everyone in the world is inherently good…some of their actions may not be, but that does not make the person bad. We are all doing the best we can.”

and Chuck Smith should know what he preaches in his courses, after all, everything I looked into came back positive and his history (as much as I could find) was very impressive.

That was good advise that you should probably take, not everyone has $8,000 to throw away on BS. ( even through Chucks program in a little high priced, im sure with his credentials, its worth it) I would always verify before I give anyone that much money … or any money for that matter, that they know what they teach by experience … not just research.

Have you ever heard of a Land Trust?

If that is the case, then we should all RUN according to his original advice:
