The NYC and Long Island markets aren’t as easy as some other parts of the world but they still are viable. I’ve invested in Suffolk, Queens, Brooklyn and Harlem. All worked out well. Most of my work has been in Suffolk, though. I’ve never invested in Nassau but know some folks that do and they are comfortable with the process.
I’d recommend you going to where ever you feel most comfortable and begining from there. There isn’t one area that is better or worse than another. All of these areas are very competitive and very profitable if you have the networking contacts (or make them) and are determined.
I am new to the real estate world and looking to attend a local real estate investor club meeting. On the tool bar on the left side of this website you can click and get a list of local investment groups for your state. I clicked on NY and found the one for Long Island. I called the phone # and left 2 messages and I think the phone number is wrong because I received a strange message back from a man. Anyway, what I am looking for is information from someone who can direct me to an investment group in Long Island, NY. Please email me @ D5883@aol.com

You are right and wrong. The number is correct and the voice mail message is computer generated. There is a glitch in the voice mail system right now and until it is resolved the message will reluctantly remain:
“The person you called, mailbox (insert Ph #) is not available right now. Please leave your message at the tone.”
Excuse the temporary inconvenience.
I don’t know who the “man” was you referenced to in your message as I am the only person that has access to that voice mail system.
Our club is in the process of relocating the monthly meetings from Islandia to a hotel conference room nearby. We will be on hiatus for a month or two until I can swing the right “deal” for this meeting space.
Email me privately with your phone number and I’ll promptly call you back. Thanks for not giving up on us!

Hello ,
I have recently read several books on Real Estate, been interested in RE for a few years now, and have developed a plan to “take action” in the coming year.
My question is concerning location. I will be changing jobs in the next few months and have tremendous flexibility as to where I can relocate. One of my options is Nassau County (where my family lives). I have heard a great deal of chatter about how difficult it is to begin investing in real estate in LI or NYC.
I would like to know what your opinion is concerning the Long Island Real Estate market. Are there still good opportunities there?
