I have a cell phone with long distance treated just like the rest of my minutes, so I have never really looked into it too much.

had it over a year now and I love it. I can take my reciever to Australia and it is still a local call to anywhere in the US, it is a great service.

Yws. Its called Vonage.com. They charge 24.99 a month! For Unlimited minutes. Your local calling area is the 48 states, Mexico AND all Of Canada. Period. No extra charges, and its very clear. You will need broadband and the free telephone adapter from Vonage.
