Dave,
My husband and I did deals for two years under our personal names. Then we started doing it under an S-Corp.
Additionally, when we first started, we could only get financing in our personal names. Having the S-Corp at the time would have complicated things for us.

Hey all-
When everyone who has their own investment/rehab company first began, did you incorporate as an LLC right away? I want to start printing a ton of business cards, flyers and work on my website. A friend recommended that I just get a DBA for my company name at first, because the LLC will be expensive, I’ll have no income initially and no tax benefits. What did other people do? I see a lot of discussion on this site about forming LLC’s for individual projects but not about the parent company.
I want to make sure I can start building up my company name, but I don’t want to spend the money on the LLC before it makes sense. Thanks for all your tips and advice,
