Shelly,

I am a newbie and just had this same question for a foreclosure that I am hoping to bid on this Friday. Last week I took a trip to the local courthouse and found everything I needed to know in the Clerk of Courts office and the Recorders office. I had to ask around and even when I found the information I needed, I had to ask someone to translate it for me (: but everyone was very helpful.

How does one find out if there are liens against a property without waiting until closing? There is a tax foreclosure sale in the future. I have access to the listings, but before I bid, I’d like to know about the liens. Also, does tax foreclosures override existing liens?
