Funeral Home has the lein which is approximately 2 years old; the amount is around $9,000.00. I would have to contact the Funeral Home to see if they are willing to take less.

I’m trying to purchase a home in Alabama that was inherited; there was a will that stated the house was to go to a niece who is the executor of the will; however, a cousin took upon herself to make all the funeral arrangements without the executor’s knowledge until the day of the funeral. There is now a “lien on the estate”; the niece is refusing to pay the funeral bill because she wasn’t allowed to make the arrangements. How do I get the lien removed without having to pay for the funeral expenses?

Make your offer on the property. The executor will have to deliver clear title it will be up to her to payoff the lien. You knowing about the lien will maybe help you make a acceptabl offer. Base your offer on the numbers, not emotion. Be sure to get title insurance.
There are ways to address the lien. You don’t give any info. Who owns the lien? How old is it? How much? Is it a deal killer? Could you buy the lien for pennies on the dollar? If you give more info someone may be able to help.
