lien on auction property, Newbie, PLEASE HELP! - Posted by jlee

I don’t have a lot of details so bear with me.
There’s a Condo being auctioned at the court house on 3/27. The judgement amount on it is about 60k. I know the judgement amount is usually not the minimum bid, but is there a way to tell how much the minimum bid is by looking at the judgement amount?
Another thing that I found odd is that the a representative from the auctioneer’s office told me that I don’t have to worry about liens or back taxes when it comes to auction properties because all liens are wiped out and that the winner will get a clean title. Is this true?
What’s the best method to find information (sq footage, number of bedrooms, liens, etc…) about a property? county clerk? title company? a good website? BTW, I’m from NYC.
Thank you for your help.
