I believe you might have to check with your mortgagee on this, as the mortgagee has the duplex in one deed. Your sister might have to refinance the mortgage in just her name to buy your portion of the duplex assuming there is equity. She could then rent out your side of the duplex bringing in income.

Have you considered renting your side instead of getting out of the mortgage?

HI I HAVE A PROBLEM ME AND MY SISTER OWN A DUPLEX IT IS A JOINT MORTGAGE. THE DUPLEX IS SIDE BY SIDE AND THEY BOTH HAVE SEPERATE ADDRESSES AND UTILITIES BUT ONLY ONE DEED. IS THERRE ANYTHING I COULD DO TO HAVE THE DEED SPLIT INTO 2? WE WANT TO SELL AND SHE DOES NOT.PLEASE HELP
