Is it legal for Realtors to pay Birddogers - Posted by Miles

I am trying to help a Realtor sell a property that is a great investment. I have a investor that is very interested in the deal. He is willing to pay me a referral fee if he closes on the deal. The Realtor is also willing to give me a “commission fee” if the deal goes through. Is that legal. If so, would he be allowed to split or give me the 6% commission. I think I misunderstood what he was saying when he said I would be compensated. I told him I’m a private INvestor, so I hope he dosen’t think I’m a Buyer’s Agent. Please help.

At least in our neck of the woods a broker is not allowed to pay a non licensed person. As I understand it they can give you a small gift.
The broker could reduce the commision allowing the investor to pay less for the property and the investor could pay you.
